The number of Chinese cars on the roads is massively increasing, and some models have made it into the top 10 best-selling cars in Kazakhstan. Together with Chery, we’ll be looking at the advantages of the sales leader among Chinese car brands in the first eight months of 2022.

Made in China

Recent years have seen a revision of the attitude towards Chinese goods from household items and clothing to technology. The quality of products from the Celestial Empire is once again valued, as in the days of the Great Silk Road, when caravans brought from China to the West the famous finest China ware, products made of gold, bronze, iron, ceramics and leather, Chinese lacquer, paper, medicines, perfumes, and much more.

Today, China has become the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of high-tech goods including cars. Founded in 1997, Chery Automobile Company has ranked first in the export of Chinese passenger cars for 19 years in a row. Currently Chery has over 10 million customers in different countries including Kazakhstan.

New high-potential market

The worldwide sales leader, China sold 2.6 million new cars in August this year, up 46% year on year.

In Kazakhstan, Chinese cars have become popular over the past year and a half and, judging by consumer feedback, not only because of the lack of cars of other brands, but primarily due to advanced technology and attractive prices. The Chinese lineup today offers affordable cars with a wide range of equipment. Similarly equipped Japanese and European cars are much more expensive.

The six Chinese car brands represented in Kazakhstan sold almost 5,000 cars in the eight months of 2022, up 131% year-on-year. Chery (1,862 cars) has led in these sales since the start of this year. It ranks sixth among the top 10 most popular car brands in Kazakhstan, with Nissan, Volkswagen, Renault, and Lexus left behind.

Chery looks set to succeed in its efforts to catch up with the leaders of the top ten in our country, which can be largely attributed to the brand’s increased attention to customer feedback. The company quickly responds to the needs of consumers around the world. This is perhaps the greatest value in a highly competitive setting.

The authorized distributor Chery Kazakhstan is a part of Astana Motors and has nine showrooms in Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Kostanay, Uralsk, Aktobe, Atyrau, Karaganda, and Pavlodar. By the end of this year, the distributor is going to open eight more Chery dealerships, including one in the capital, as well as in Aktau, Jezkazgan, Kokshetau, Kyzylorda, Taraz, Ust-Kamenogorsk, and Petropavlovsk.

Advanced Chery

China’s automobile industry has made a revolutionary breakthrough in development since the 1990s, from the assembly of foreign-brand cars to domestic engineering developments and a full line of automotive products, including engines. Focused on advanced technology, Chery Automobile has been investing in science, technology, and innovation for 20 years. In addition, Chery Group, which includes Chery Automobile Company, has a shipbuilding business and can build large ships for the international market.

Chery cars, as well as components for the domestic market and for export, are created by more than 5,500 researchers and developers in five large research and development centers located in 10 production bases across the globe and markets in more than 80 countries and regions.

One of the pain points of the modern automotive industry is the shortage of microchips or semiconductors. «Does Chery face similar problems, and who is the semiconductor supplier for the Chery model range?” - this question was raised during the Chery Group online conference recently held in Almaty and the city of Wuhu (China), which hosts Chery’s headquarters and main production facilities. You can hear the answer to this and other questions in the video version of the conference.

Smart new offering from the Tiggo family

Kazakhstan has just launched the sales of the much anticipated seven-seat Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max crossover. The all-wheel drive Tiggo 8 Pro Max with a two-liter engine is the smartest, fastest, and most powerful. It recognizes the owner’s voice commands and can accelerate from standstill to 100 km per hour in less than 7 seconds.

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max comes with ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance System), which was previously available on Mercedes, BMW, and Audi cars only.
Equipped with a Honeywell turbine, the new crossover has something in common with an aircraft. Honeywell produces electronic control and automation systems, and aerospace equipment and also develops aircraft propulsion systems.

The price for the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max in Kazakhstan starts at 18.9 million tenge, depending on the configuration. Impressive looks, a premium interior created by Jaguar designers, a high level of safety and an intelligent system add value to the new crossover and place it on a par with competitors in a higher price segment.
