Financial Director at Mega Center Management Tatiana Tarabanova

The purpose of the competition is to facilitate effective disclosure of information by companies to interested parties. Any Kazakhstan enterprise could participate in it. In 2019, the competition evaluated 111 annual reports and reports on sustainable development of Kazakhstan companies, including 35 financial organizations and 69 non-financial ones.

— Disclosure of ESG information is the main challenge for corporate reporting today. We are talking about the issues of environmental protection, social policy, and corporate governance, — says the scientific Director of the project Vasily Kalabin. — The winners of the competition were companies that were better able to cope with the disclosure of this non-financial information.

When determining the long list in the «Best annual report» category, all annual reports issued in Kazakhstan are analyzed, with the main emphasis on content — the documents that are characterized by the most complete and high-quality disclosure of information were selected. The list consisting of ten reports, formed based on the results of the preliminary analysis, was put to the vote of the expert commission, which included professionals in the field of corporate governance and reporting.
