At the Changan Auto Global Partnership Conference, the Kazakhstani distributor was recognized as the best in two nominations at once – Key Product Contribution Award and Best Localization Award.

The official distributor Changan Kazakhstan, part of Astana Motors, was recognized for achieving high sales figures in 2024, as well as for creating a project to localize Changan cars.

Changan’s Global Plans for 2025: Producing and Selling 3 Million Cars

The event, which took place yesterday in Chongqing, where Changan’s headquarters is located, was attended by more than 600 representatives from the brand’s distributors and dealers from over 70 countries. The brand’s top managers shared their ambitious development plans with the participants. In particular, Changan plans to sell about 3 million cars worldwide this year and at least 5 million in 2030 in order to remain among the top 10 global automakers.

Notably, Changan not only makes cars but also conducts extensive research and technical developments. Every year, the company invests over 5 % of its revenue in the operation of nine research and design centers in Italy, Japan, Great Britain, the USA, Germany, and China. The company also has more than 180 different laboratories around the world and the largest testing ground across the Asian region. Thus, Changan has all the resources to implement its other ambitious plan – to invest $10 billion in the design and creation of another 60 new models.

The company also plans to continue implementing its Vast Ocean Plan strategy to expand its presence in overseas markets, primarily through the import of brands such as Changan, Deepal, and Avatr.

Key Product Contribution Award: the Figures Speak for Themselves

In 2024, Changan entered the top 10 best-selling brands in Kazakhstan. Its share is 4.4 % with an annual growth of +39.8 %, according to the Kazakhstan Automobile Union. Changan ranks fifth among Chinese automobile brands. Since the brand’s arrival in Kazakhstan, about 16,500 cars have already been sold. Changan has been officially present in Kazakhstan since August 2022, and car sales started in October 2022. The model range of the brand available in Kazakhstan includes nine models: six crossovers – the UNI-K, the CS35PLUS, the CS55PLUS, the S75PLUS, the CS95, and the UNI-T; two sedans – the UNI-V, the ALSVIN, and the Hunter Plus pickup.

Today, Changan cars are available in 14 cities in Kazakhstan through a network of 20 official dealerships. The brand’s plans for 2025 include further expansion of the regional network to 25 dealerships by opening new sales outlets in Astana, Aktau, Taraz, Petropavlovsk, and Zhezkazgan. In 2030, there will be 30 dealerships throughout Kazakhstan.

Best Localization Award: Changan Cars “Made in Kazakhstan”

Cars are now delivered to Kazakhstan directly from plants in China, but soon cars will be produced in Kazakhstan as well. In particular, Astana Motors is already setting up production of several Changan models at the Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan multi-brand plant in the Almaty Industrial Zone. The plant is scheduled to be launched in the second quarter of 2025.

The partnership between Astana Motors and Changan is not only about Kazakhstan. In March 2025, the companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding to serve as the basis for concluding a distribution agreement in the near future. It will make Astana Motors the official representative of the Chinese brand in Poland to promote its key brands here, including Changan, Deepal, and Avatr.

“The awards received are a recognition not only of the efforts of our team but also of the entire Kazakhstani market, which is developing rapidly. We are proud that we were able not only to ensure a high level of sales but also to lay a solid foundation for local production. It is important for us to bring Changan cars even closer to Kazakhstanis. This is only the beginning of a long journey, and we still have many ambitious tasks ahead – both in Kazakhstan and beyond,” said Nurlan Smagulov, founder of Astana Motors.
