The 2025 Chery International Business Conference was held in Wuhu, China, on April 25–27, with nearly 3000 dealers and distributors from 97 countries brought together. As one of its highlights, Chery Kazakhstan, part of Astana Motors, was named the winner in three nominations at once.

Chery’s Global Results and Plans

Speaking at the conference, Zhu Shaodong (Chery International Executive Vice President) emphasized that the brand will move forward hand in hand with global partners, continuing to enhance its dealer network, improve the service quality, and strengthen its position in the global market through advanced products and top-notch service.

In 2024, Chery International achieved record sales of 2.6 million cars, up 36 %. By the end of 2027, the brand will expand its model range to 43 models, including hybrid cars, and this year, it plans to sell more than 300,000 electric cars. Chery also highlighted its achievements, ranking 385th on the 2024 Fortune Global 500 list and supported by over 16 million global users.

Chery Kazakhstan – Local Leadership

At the conference, Chery Kazakhstan, the authorized distributor of the brand in Kazakhstan, received top awards from Chery International in three nominations at once:

  • Outstanding Exposure Award – for outstanding brand promotion,
  • Top Market Share Award – for leading market share,
  • Public Welfare Award – for supporting social initiatives.

The founder of Astana Motors, Nurlan Smagulov, thanked Chery on behalf of the employees and on his own behalf for the high recognition of their efforts.

“The awards we received were not only a great honor for us but also confirmation that we are moving in the right direction. Our cooperation with Chery is an extensively developing, long-term strategic partnership. It started with the import of cars from China several years ago, and now we are launching their production in Kazakhstan. Very soon, the Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan multi-brand plant will be put into operation in Almaty, with the model range to include several Chery models,” said Nurlan Smagulov.

Chery dealers in Kazakhstan were highly praised at the conference, confirming a high level of service and contribution to the brand’s development at the regional level. Chery Aktobe and Chery Semey were recognized for their strong growth, flexibility, and ability to effectively adapt to market changes. Chery Astana was awarded for the best customer service. Chery Shymkent Crystal was recognized as the best dealer due to its impressive sales results and high-quality service.

New Models for Kazakhstan in 2025

To date, Chery’s regional dealer network in Kazakhstan consists of 24 sales outlets in 19 cities. Two more dealerships are due to open in Taldykorgan and Turkestan by the end of the year. The Chery model lineup available in Kazakhstan includes five crossovers – the Tiggo 2 Pro, the Tiggo 4, the Tiggo 7 Pro/Pro Max, the Tiggo 8 Pro/Pro Max, and the flagship Tiggo 9, as well as one sedan, the Arrizo 8.

The Chery Conference was held in parallel with the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, where the brand became one of the key newsmakers. Chery presented its new products, including the Chery Himla (ICE/PHEV/EV) body-on-frame all-wheel drive pickups. The Chery Arrizo 9 hybrid (PHEV) executive sedan and the Chery Tiggo 10 full-size crossover were also demonstrated.

In addition, PHEV versions of the Arrizo 8, the Tiggo 9, the Tiggo 8, and the Tiggo 7 models were presented. These four hybrids are expected to go on sale in Kazakhstan in 2025.

Chery has been present on the Kazakhstan market since September 2021 and in less than four years has become the most popular Chinese auto brand in the country. It sold around 35,000 cars from the entry into the market until March of this year. Chery ranks among the top four best-selling brands in Kazakhstan for the second year in a row.

March 21, 2025, in the German city of Mainz, the company "Astana Motors" (Republic of Kazakhstan) and Changan Automobile Group (People’s Republic of China) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The document grants "Astana Motors" the right to begin the process of preparing a business plan, which in the near future will serve as the basis for signing a distribution agreement.
