Changan reported 18 % sales in the Chinese passenger car segment in May 2025.

According to statistics from the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAO), the Changan brand, represented by Astana Motors, doubled its sales in May 2025 year on year. So almost every fifth Chinese car sold in May in Kazakhstan was made by Changan.

From January to May 2025, Changan dealers sold 3847 passenger cars, up 4.1 % compared to the same period last year.

In May, Changan dealers in Kazakhstan sold the most Changan CS55 Plus cars – 864 units, an all-time high in the sales history for the Chinese segment in this country. It secured Changan a historical sales record in the Chinese passenger car segment in Kazakhstan.

The rapid growth of the brand largely comes from a change in the distribution top management and a new business strategy.

On March 4, 2025, Denis Kolomatsky, Managing Director for Business Development, Member of the Board of Astana Motors, became the head of Changan in Kazakhstan.

Denis Kolomatsky has worked with Astana Motors since 2011. From 2018 to 2023, he managed Hyundai distribution, was responsible for the development of the Hyundai brand in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, including passenger car production in Almaty, and made the brand a market leader.

A large growth in Changan’s share in Kazakhstan is a result of the effective strategy. The distributor streamlined business processes, increased dealer margins and introduced KPIs, expanded the product line, introduced advanced staff training and adopted dealer staff incentives.

Denis Kolomatsky, Changan Director in Kazakhstan: “Changan is No. 1 in customer appeal. The brand’s cars stand out for their cutting-edge technology, equipment, and a futuristic design. Add to it transparent sale deals and a reliable warranty – these are the main criteria our customers use to evaluate car capabilities and dealer advantages. Kazakhstanis rely on us, and we take on obligations and responsibility for the quality of our cars, spare parts, and services. To make Changan cars more affordable to all people, we offer special car sale deals. All of this has driven the brand’s sales up.”

In the future, the Distributor will continue to develop its dealer network. The Company plans to expand its dealer network in Kazakhstan to 30 dealerships by the end of 2025. Currently, the brand has 21 sales outlets in 14 cities in this country.
