Astana Motors localizes production of BYD buses in Kazakhstan

Almaty Akim Erbolat Dosaev held a meeting with Tian Chunlong, General Director of BYD's Commercial Vehicle Division, during his business trip to China and as part of the development of international cooperation. Tian Chunlong, General Director of BYD's Commercial Vehicle Division, said at the meeting that agreements had been reached with Astana Motors to launch manufacturing of BYD electric buses at the company's commercial vehicle plant in Kazakhstan.
BYD electric buses, which batteries are considered to be among the safest in the world, were presented to the Almaty Akim. BYD batteries were tested in the winter conditions of Denmark. In addition, puncture tests, heating up to 300 °C and recharging without igniting or exploding were successfully completed. In 2024, the BYD Blade battery won the Innovation of the Year award from Electrifying.com, a UK-based organization.
Tian Chunlong emphasized that the launch of production of BYD electric buses in Kazakhstan would be an important step in the development of the city's automobile cluster.
Astana Motors is the official distributor of BYD in Kazakhstan.
