Over the first four months of 2025, the Chery brand, which is part of Astana Motors, has remained at the top of the Chinese segment in the automobile market of Kazakhstan. During this time, 4,531 cars were sold, 1,434 of which were delivered in April.
These figures determined the results of the April rating and once again provided proof of the brand’s leading position in Kazakhstan. Incidentally, Chery has topped Chinese car sales for more than two years: in 2023, over 12,000 car owners chose Chery, and in 2024, the brand was chosen by 14,800 Kazakhstani buyers.
According to the Kazakhstan Automobile Union, Kazakhstan people purchased over 66,000 new passenger cars and commercial vehicles from January to April 2025, of which 25,554 units came from Chinese brands. And almost every fifth Chinese car (about 18%) was sold by Chery, accounting for about 7% of the new car market in Kazakhstan.
Six Chery models are now available in Kazakhstan. The model line is regularly updated with restyled and new versions.

In particular, at the end of April, the distributor of the Chery Kazakhstan brand, which is part of Astana Motors, presented the updated Tiggo 7 flagship model. The restyling delivered major appearance and technology updates to the crossover, which became more eye-catching, modern and dynamic. Its frontend features a new massive radiator grille with an outstanding design and LED optics from the older Tiggo 8 Pro model with LED Technology, emphasizing the premium look. From the side, your attention is drawn to large 19-inch alloy wheels with a titanium coating and halogen headlights of a new design, visually uniting the car’s fenders. These elements emphasize the flowing outline and a sporty character.
The crossover has compact dimensions of 4,553 mm in length, 1,862 mm in width and 1,696 mm in height, which makes it an excellent choice for city streets with heavy traffic and limited space for maneuvering. The car comes with a modern 1.6-liter turbocharged GDI engine delivering 150 hp (110 kW) and a maximum torque of 275 Nm in the range from 2,000 to 3,800 rpm. Paired with a robotic 7-speed DCT transmission, the engine provides confident acceleration and smooth gear shifting. The intelligent all-wheel drive system can switch between 2WD and 4WD modes to adapt to any road conditions, including city highways, wet asphalt or country roads.

The crossover has received a stylish update to the interior — the trims made in black and dark brown colors emphasize the premium status. The electronic instrument cluster is now made as a single visual block of two integrated 12.3-inch displays providing access to multimedia functions and car parameters. The climate control system has received intuitive and convenient key control. The equipment package offers 360º cameras, parking sensors, an advanced set of driver assistants, including cruise control. The car has a power driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment and setting memory. Heated seats, steering wheel, mirrors, windshield and windshield washer nozzles are provided for additional comfort. Power front seats and trunk lid make everyday use even easier. The panorama roof fills the interior with light and visual space, and the spacious trunk of up to 1,500 liters allows you to easily take everything you need with you — both for trips around the city and for long journeys.
The new car is available in two configurations in Kazakhstan and is already available in 23 official dealerships in 17 cities at a price of 13,390,000 tenge. The flagship Tiggo 7 model has a warranty of 5 years or 150,000 km.

Chery cars will soon be manufactured under the brand “Made in Kazakhstan”. Production will start in the second quarter of 2025 at the Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan multi-brand plant. At the first stage, the production of the Chery Tiggo 2 Pro will be launched here, and for the future, the production of eight models is being considered. The distributor believes these plans will give customers greater confidence that the brand has come to Kazakhstan for a long time and with a strong footing. The construction of Astana Motors’ subsidiary is already near completion.
“We are at the finish line now. Over 202 billion tenge were invested in the construction. The emergence of a multi-brand plant is a new challenge for our company and a new stage in the development of Kazakhstan’s auto industry. A lot of work was done, there were long and difficult negotiations, foreign experience was studied, a lot of energy was invested in training specialists. In total, the plant will employ 3,600 personnel who will be provided with a solid social package and good working conditions,” said Beknur Nesipbayev, CEO of Astana Motors.
The multi-brand plant with a total area of 211,000 square meters is located in the Industrial Zone of Almaty. Over 120,000 cars per year will be produced here using CKD assembly, including welding and painting.
Local automobile production is expected to speed up the delivery of popular Chery models to the local market and make them more affordable. In addition, there are plans to localize auto components for the models produced at the technology park in Almaty.
