The Hyundai passenger car plant has been in operation since October 2020. The plant’s capacity is 50,000 vehicles annually.
The total area of the plant is 40,000 sq. m. Currently, production facilities are being expanded and preparations are being made to modernize plant workshops to increase the scope of CKD production and launch new models made using welding and painting.
A cluster of enterprises for the production of auto components is under construction near the plant.
Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan produces 9 Hyundai models - Tucson, new Tucson, Sonata, Elantra, Santa Fe, Palisade, Staria, Mufasa, Custin. The production of Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Tucson models has been mastered by welding and painting method (Completely knocked down, CKD). In 2025 it is planned to master CKD of Santa Fe.

Each car manufactured by Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan is inspected to meet the high Hyundai standards. All plant operations comply fully with the approved technological process and the Hyundai Motor Company standards.
Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan has built an engineering personnel reserve. Today, the company has more than 1,300 employees.
The Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan project was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Development Bank of Kazakhstan, the Industrial Development Fund, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the KazakhExport Export Insurance Company, and Akimat of Almaty.
The Hyundai Trans Almaty plant has been operating since 2011 and manufactures commercial, bus and specialized Hyundai, Golden Dragon and Foton vehicles, including reanimobiles, buses, fire trucks, water trucks, tow trucks, trucks – thousands of vehicles for everyday life and human work.
In 2023, the Hyundai Trans Almaty plant expanded its production facilities and launched two CKD production lines with welding and painting: a Hyundai truck production line and a Golden Dragon bus production line. In 2023, 425 city buses and 200 Golden Dragon school buses were produced.
In 2024, new workshops were built at the Hyundai Trans Almaty plant, a paint line with cataphoresis baths was installed, including technological operations for welding Hyundai Porter cabins (CKD).
The total production area estimated at 19,500 square meters.
Investments in the expansion of production amounted to 11.9 billion tenge, total investments will amount to 18.5 billion tenge.
In 2024, production of two models by CKD method was launched: launch of production of Hyundai Porter truck and Hyundai Mighty EX10.
Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan (AMMKZ)(AMMKZ) is a full-cycle passenger car manufacturing plant for the Chinese brands Chery, GWM (Haval, Tank), and Changan. It is a subsidiary of Astana Motors.

About the Enterprise
The multi-brand plant Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan (AMMKZ) is located in the Almaty Industrial Zone. The plant’s production capacity reaches up to 120,000 vehicles per year, manufactured using the semi-knock-down (SKD) method with key technological processes including body welding and painting.
The plant’s output is targeted at both the domestic market of Kazakhstan and export markets. Upon reaching full design capacity, the plant will provide employment for 3600 people. The staff is primarily composed of engineering and technical personnel adopting best practices and standards from the world’s leading automakers. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package and well-developed on-site facilities for employees, such as a cafeteria, library, gyms, and cultural/recreational zones.
Equipment and Automation
The complex features robotic and automated welding, painting, and assembly shops; component and finished goods warehouses; an automated body distribution warehouse; a test track; paint and coating storage facilities; utility networks; and an administrative/amenities building.

Our key equipment supplier is China’s Automotive Engineering Corporation, a global industry leader whose clients include the manufacturing plants of automotive giants like BMW, Hyundai, Toyota, Jaguar, Land Rover, BYD, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen. The installed equipment also includes solutions from global brands: ABB (Sweden-Switzerland), Bosch (Germany), Fanuc (Japan), Obara (South Korea), Schneider (France), Siemens (Germany), and others.
Investments
Over 202 billion tenge has been invested in the plant’s construction and technical outfitting. Of these, 37 % were financed by Astana Motors, and 63 % from borrowed repayable funds raised through credit instruments from the Development Bank of Kazakhstan and the Industrial Development Fund at a rate of 9 % per annum for a period of 15 years.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Akimat of Almaty.
The technology park for the production of vehicle components is located in the Industrial Zone of Almaty next to Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan and Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan.
The total area of the technology park is 100,000 square meters, of which over 20,000 square meters is taken up by production premises. The technology park accommodates two plants - for the production of car seats and the production of multimedia car systems, as well as a logistics hub.
Investments in the construction of the technology park will total over KZT 15.5 bln. It will employ about 400 personnel. The plans include launching:
Plant for the production of multimedia car systems
Kazakhstan Mobility Engineering, a new plant for the production of multimedia systems, commenced operations in autumn 2024. This is a project of Astana Motors and its South Korean partner Motrex Co Ltd., which jointly invested more than KZT 890 mln tenge in its implementation.
The production facilities of the plant occupy an area of about 1,400 square meters. It can produce up to 100,000 multimedia systems annually using Motrex technology. Electronic audio and video equipment manufactured by the plant has been supplied to the Almaty-based Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan plant since October 2024.
Notably, the Kazakh language is integrated into the car multimedia systems for Hyundai cars such as the Tucson, the Elantra and the Palisade, with the Hyundai Santa Fe also to be added to the list soon. This helps locally made Hyundai cars better meet the needs of local users.
The company plans to supply multimedia systems for the production of cars at the Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan multi-brand plant.
Currently, Astana Motors is negotiating with Sanico Electronics (Republic of Korea) on localizing the production of motherboards and multimedia system cases using stamping and surface-mount technology, which will be supplied to automobile plants in Kazakhstan.
Car seat manufacturing plant
Almaty Autoparts Production was commissioned in March 2025. This is a joint project of Astana Motors and its South Korean partner Youngsan. The companies invested KZT 4 bln in the first stage of localization.
The area of the production facilities is about 4,850 square meters. The capacity of the enterprise is 100,000 sets of seats per year. In December 2024, a pilot batch of seat foam cushions was produced to control the quality of equipment, raw materials and finished products. As a result, the plant passed certification and received approval from Hyundai Motor Company to supply components to produce Hyundai passenger vehicles, marking the start of mass production of car seats.
At the first stage of localization, the production of foamed polyurethane (seat cushions) products, frame assembly, upholstery of plastic elements and testing of car seat control systems were launched. Equipment from the Republic of Korea was installed.
Almaty Autoparts Production products are used in CKD production of the Hyundai Tucson and Santa Fe models at Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan. In the future, locally made seats will be supplied to the Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan multi-brand plant for the production of Changan, GWM (Haval and Tank) and Chery models, as well as to other automobile enterprises.
Almaty Autoparts Production plans to enter the second stage of localization in 2026. Production processes for sewing covers from supplied raw materials will be introduced. The company intends to additionally invest about KZT 720 mln tenge in the construction of sewing workshops, the purchase and installation of equipment, and personnel training.
