The Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan passenger car plant has held a large-scale celebration of the Family Day and Astana Motors' 30th anniversary.

The corporate family party gathered 1,700 people on August 28. It was for the first time that the plant hosted so many people at the start, back in 2019, there were only 10 employees in the team, the first line was launched with as many as 350 people employed, and now the plant has over 800 employees. The team was recruited consistently and with no haste, the smooth accession made it possible to create a natural family atmosphere, so that Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan holiday events can be visited by everyone. The employees attended the Family Day with their spouses and children.

Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan plans to increase the headcount to 1000 by the end of the year.

Astana Motors General Director Beknur Nesipbayev warmly welcomed the audience at the official ceremony and highlighted the enormous work that had been done by joint efforts, «When we were laying the foundation stone for our plant in 2019, there was a steppe here — 15 hectares of green grass. And now there is this great plant, and I am so much pleased to see you today with your families, with our little future employees! Let us develop our Kazakhstan together, make it better and stronger!”

The construction of a car component plant is to be commenced this year. The plant will manufacture seats, plastic parts, and polyurethane rugs. Astana Motors plans to steadily increase the Kazakhstan share in the cars produced.

The holiday program included many entertainment activities for all ages: games and contests, master classes, team competitions, live music, and professional entertainers. It was the art zone alone that offered books and cardboard houses to creators for graphic design and a new Palisade that young car designers turned into an impressive art object in several hours. Three types of trampolines and giant volleyball wowed the little guests.

But it was a family tour of the plant that became the main event of the day! There were so many of those willing to have a look at the plant inside and to see where their close ones work that they had to line up. The guides were telling about the main car making stages. And though all mechanisms were off, even the «silent' plant impressed all the visitors.

While the plant is a sensitive facility, it aims to be open — Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan has hold numerous tours for mass media, technical college and school students, and others. But the tours for technical college students are of priority though, as they are potential human resources.

Comfortable work and rest conditions are the brand philosophy for Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan: quality standards should not only be set but complied with as well so that to be able to demand quality. «We are committed to maintain the level, the golden mean. These are strict requirements for performance on the one hand and close concern to personal or «human' needs of the employees on the other hand”, HTK HR Director Natalya Marchenko said.

All the employees are provided annual gym membership, there are basketball, volleyball, and football grounds. We even have our own football team!

The company team is young, the employees are 33 years of age on the average. And this has a special impact on the company’s family status. The plant has its own demographic statistics — four couples were formed from employees and 81 babies were born for a little over two years.

Despite the statistics, there is no age limit, it is the expertise and readiness to develop and move on that are of importance. There are extremely few trained specialists for the production profiles of such kind of plant in Kazakhstan, so all level employees are trained in practice and theory by mentors in the Hyundai training center.

Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan’s employees regularly take skill improvement courses. It is this year alone that 742 people have attended professional development seminars and trainings.

Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan was officially launched in October 2020, but the plant reached its design capacity as late as 2022. Though there were periodic problems for car making enterprises in 2021 and 2022 because of logistics and deficit of high-tech components, the company is confident that the targets will be achieved.

Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan’s design capacity is 47 thousand cars per year. Over 53 thousand cars have been produced since the start of operation. The manufacturing of three new models started in 2022 — Hyundai Staria, Hyundai i30, and Hyundai Bayon.

According to Astana Motors General Director Beknur Nesipbayev, the company sets itself a global goal — country industrialization. And the way to this goal has begun from the Almaty Industrial Zone, where new facilities will soon come into being near the Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan plant!
