THE OPENING CEREMONY OF MEGA PARK

The opening ceremony of MEGA Park was held on August 30, 2014. The total area of ​​MEGA Park is 106,227 square meters with the commercial area of 46,333 square meters. The design of the building was developed by MB Architects, a French company, which had designed the previous MEGA projects: MEGA Alma-Ata (the first section), MEGA Astana, MEGA Shymkent, and MEGA Aktobe. The construction of MEGA Park was carried out by ATA-Stroy, a Turkish company.

The volume of attracted investments for the construction of the mall, involving a partner bank, Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan, was 23 billion tenge. The MEGA Park project allowed to create more than 1,600 workplaces in Almaty.

Annual tax deductions to the state budget on the part of MEGA Park will amount to more than 380 million tenge.

Green technologies were used in the construction of the new shopping mall, for example, energy saving devices such as rotary heat exchangers. According to the experts, their efficiency is 60−85% higher compared to the traditional heating systems. Energy-saving LED lamps are used in the mall and due to these lamps, electricity consumption can be reduced ten times.

For the first time in Kazakhstan, MEGA Park has introduced the Macro Center supermarket, which offers selected goods from all over the world to customers. Children will enjoy the Happylon amusement park (2,600 m²) where a new concept of «Tours over the countries” is offered. The nine-screen Chaplin cinema for 1,400 seats in the 3D RealD format will be opened in MEGA Park.

Inside MEGA Park, there are 105 stores of famous brands, including MARWIN and Technodom, which are old partners of the MEGA chain as well as the brands, which have not previously been represented in MEGA: H.E. by Mango, Collezione, New Look, Oasis London, The Body Shop, Beyond, Pablosky and others.

More than a thousand of people can be seated at the new MEGA Park food court. People who enjoy traditional restaurants can eat European and Asian dishes in Il Patio, Planet Sushi, VietCafe, Kolkovna, Rake, and ASSORTI.

According to an established tradition, the new shopping center will also display contemporary art works. Famous sculptor Eduard Ghazaryan made a 32-meter piece of art called «Three Elements” for MEGA Park, and Marat Bekeev drew a picture called «Melody of Wanderings”. In addition, a sculpture called «Taurus” made by the Italian master, Helidon Xhixha, was placed in the mall.

Interesting facts:

MEGA Park got its name because special attention was given to the landscaping of the territory: about 700 trees and shrubs were planted here. The interior was decorated with two green phyto-walls with an area of ​​270 square meters each.

A summer hall will be opened in the Chaplin cinema where people can watch movies in the open air.

The fountain at the main entrance imitates a shape of a canoe.
