Kazakh motor company Astana Motors transferred 500 million tenge to help residents of regions affected by spring flooding.

Nurlan Smagulov, founder of Astana Motors:

“We are all acutely aware of what is happening and immeasurably sympathize with our compatriots who found themselves hostage to the elements and suddenly lost their homes, property, and means of livelihood. We have decided to allocate 500 million tenge to restore regular way of living in the affected regions. Endurance, patience and mutual assistance will help us overcome the consequences of floods.”

Funds were transferred to the bank account of the corporate fund “Demeu Kazakhstanory”.

The flood situation is under a special control of the head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

As of March 31, 2024, in Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Akmola, and Kostanay regions, 6,461 people currently reside in temporary accommodation centers, 2,570 of them are children.

961 people were evacuated by aircraft, including 261 minors.

Emergency Hotline received 592 calls; republican-wide and regional operational headquarters in 20 regions continue to operate.

In regions with a complicated flood situation, including Aktobe, Akmola, Kostanay, West Kazakhstan, and Abay regions, forces and resources of the Ministry of Emergency Situations from other regions of the country were brought in to perform flood control measures.

The flood situation concerning rivers and water-storage reservoirs is being constantly monitored.
