Kazakhstan-based Astana Motors has become the official distributor of the Chery brand in Slovakia. The launch ceremony took place on 16 April 2026 in Bratislava.

The market entry begins with the opening of seven dealerships in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Trenčín, Martin, Dunajská Streda, Topoľčany and Púchov. The network is expected to expand to 12 locations across Slovakia by the end of the year. The Slovak market will see the official debut of Chery Tiggo 4, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 crossovers, available in petrol and hybrid versions.

For Astana Motors, it is a great honour to represent Chery in Slovakia. We see this as recognition that our expertise in brand development and customer engagement meets international standards. Today, European consumers are closely evaluating new automotive brands, with a focus on advanced technologies, high levels of equipment, environmentally friendly hybrid solutions and competitive pricing. These are the very strengths that make Chery increasingly attractive in European markets. Last year, we successfully launched the brand in the Czech Republic. We have studied the needs of European customers and will apply this experience in developing Chery in Slovakia,” said Astana Motors Founder Nurlan Smagulov.

The high-level status of the event was underscored by the presence of Her Excellency Zhanna Saginova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Slovak Republic, and His Excellency Cai Ge, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Slovak Republic.

Chery and Astana Motors have been cooperating for five years, during which Chery has become the best-selling Chinese automotive brand in Kazakhstan. The brand operates an extensive network of 24 authorised dealerships across 17 cities and offers a model line-up of seven vehicles. In 2025, local production of Chery vehicles for the domestic market commenced at the Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan plant.

The entry into Slovakia follows the successful launch of Chery in the Czech Republic in September 2025 in partnership with Astana Motors. The dealer network in the Czech Republic currently includes 12 centres across all major cities. The flagship Chery dealership is located in Prague, in the prestigious Průhonice district. The model range features Tiggo family crossovers in petrol and hybrid versions. The best-selling model is the hybrid family crossover Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV, the brand’s flagship.

Chery is China’s largest passenger car exporter and has maintained its leadership in overseas sales among Chinese automakers for more than 20 consecutive years. The brand’s vehicles are sold in over 110 countries and regions worldwide. Its global customer base exceeds 15 million, with more than 4 million customers outside China.
